Early Sunday morning, more than 10,000 hotel workers from 24 hotels spanning from Boston to the West Coast and Hawaii went on strike, impacting travel during the busy Labor Day weekend. Despite the strike, the hotels remain open, but guests are experiencing limited services due to the reduced staff.

The striking workers, represented by the union UNITE HERE, are demanding not just better pay but also improved working conditions.

One key issue is the return of automatic daily room cleaning, a service that many hotels discontinued during the pandemic.
