Recent polls indicate that Trump is slipping against Ms. Harris, a point he addressed during an hour-long news conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate. A survey conducted by the New York Times and Siena College from August 5 to 9 shows Ms. Harris leading Trump by 50% to 46% in three key battleground states: Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

While the RealClearPolitics polling average gives Ms. Harris a slight edge in the popular vote, Mr. Trump still maintains a lead in several important swing states.
