Two US Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit were assaulted by a small crowd while on liberty in the port city of Izmir, Turkey, on Monday afternoon, according to a statement from the US Sixth Fleet.

Video footage of the incident, confirmed by a US official, shows the Marines being forcibly held by several individuals as a street speaker yells loudly. One Marine is heard shouting “Help!” repeatedly, while another Marine has a bag placed over his head by the crowd. The group then begins chanting, “Yankee, go home!”.
