In Australia, a 28-year-old woman has been charged with the theft of a delivery van carrying 10,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The van disappeared from a Sydney suburb petrol station during the early hours of November 29. Authorities later discovered the abandoned vehicle, along with thousands of spoiled doughnuts, in a car park a week after its disappearance.
The woman was apprehended on Thursday and has been denied bail. She is facing charges, including vehicle theft and driving while disqualified. Surveillance footage of the incident suggests that the woman lingered at the service station around 04:00 local time on November 28 before entering the unattended delivery van and driving away.
It remains unclear whether the woman was aware of the 10,000 doughnuts inside the van. According to News.com.au, her loot comprised both Christmas-themed and classic doughnuts. Krispy Kreme promptly reported the incident to the police and assured customers that efforts were underway to replace the 10,000 stolen doughnuts.
