On December 16, 2024, Taiwan received 38 M1A2T Abrams tanks from the United States, marking its first tank upgrade in 30 years since the delivery of M60A3 tanks in 1994. This initial shipment is part of a total order of 108 tanks customized specifically for Taiwan’s needs.

The advanced M1A2T tanks are designed to bolster Taiwan’s ground combat capabilities amid escalating regional tensions. The complete delivery is expected by 2026, significantly modernizing Taiwan’s armored forces to address emerging security challenges.
