In NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA) is crucial for simulating life on Mars. Dr. Shareef Al Romaithi, an Emirati pilot, has been selected as an Analog Crewmember for this endeavor. Notably, he is the world’s youngest individual to earn a doctorate in aviation.
Within the Mars Dune Alpha, NASA’s simulated Mars habitat, helmets are visible as part of preparations for future human missions to the Red Planet. This scene unfolds at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, U.S.
The second phase of the HERA program, starting on May 10, will see Al Romaithi alongside Jason Lee, Stephanie Navarro, and Piyumi Wijesekara enter the HERA habitat in Houston, Texas, USA. Living and working within this facility for 45 days, the crew will exit on June 24.
