As the race intensifies in the final nine weeks before Election Day, Donald Trump is ramping up his efforts to undermine Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’ image as a transformative leader and discredit her credibility as a potential president.

In recent days, the former president has launched a broad offensive, resorting to the insult-driven tactics that propelled him to victory in 2016. Despite his advisers urging him to prioritize pressing voter concerns like rising prices and immigration, Trump has instead focused on personal attacks against Harris.

Trump has seized on international crises to blame Harris for the deaths of U.S. troops in Afghanistan and accuse her of complicity in the killings of hostages in Gaza. Alongside his running mate JD Vance, Trump has also suggested that Harris’ mixed-race heritage — a background shared by millions of Americans — reveals a duplicitous ‘chameleon’-like nature, which they claim is reflected in her policy shifts on energy and immigration. In a particularly offensive move, he amplified a sexually explicit social media smear against her. His campaign ads also ominously allege that Harris plans to cut Social Security benefits while welcoming millions of undocumented migrants into the country.
