A Ukrainian military source has reported to the BBC that one of the F-16 fighter jets sent by NATO allies to Ukraine has been destroyed during a Russian missile barrage on Monday. The crash resulted in the death of pilot Oleksiy Mes, marking the first loss of an F-16 since their delivery to Ukraine earlier this month.



According to the Ukrainian military, the crash was not caused by a direct enemy missile strike.
