NASA and Nokia are collaborating to bring 4G connectivity to the Moon, aiming to support long-term human presence and future Mars missions. Using a SpaceX rocket, the system will be deployed at the Moon’s south pole and connect rovers searching for lunar ice. Developed by Bell Labs and Intuitive Machines, this project is part of NASA’s Artemis and Tipping Point initiatives. The network promises near real-time data transmission, crucial for communication, science, and potential lunar economy development. Its success could revolutionize both space exploration and Earth-based industrial networks in harsh environments.
