More than a dozen aid workers have been killed or gone missing in Gaza in recent days, humanitarian groups report, as Israel’s blockade nears one month. The UN’s refugee agency (UNRWA) confirmed eight staff members were killed, while the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported nine EMTs missing after Israeli forces fired on ambulances in Rafah. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claims the vehicles were used as cover by militants. Meanwhile, an Israeli strike killed a World Central Kitchen volunteer. Since Israel resumed its assault on March 18, over 855 Palestinians have been killed, amid accusations of using starvation as a weapon of war.
