Aysenur Eygi, a young Turkish-American activist, was shot and killed on Friday during a protest near Nablus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. According to U.S. and Palestinian officials, Eygi was participating in the demonstration when the incident occurred.

The Israeli military has acknowledged firing at the protesters but has not confirmed whether any other gunmen were involved. Eygi is pictured in a family photo from her graduation at the University of Washington earlier this spring.
