French police rescued the father of a cryptocurrency entrepreneur after he was kidnapped and held hostage near Paris. The kidnappers, wearing ski masks, severed one of his fingers and sent a video to the victim’s son demanding a ransom in the millions. The victim was freed after two days, and five suspects aged 23 to 27 were arrested. This incident mirrors previous crypto-related kidnappings in France and Belgium, including the 2025 abduction of Ledger cofounder David Balland and the 2024 kidnapping of influencer Stéphane Winkel’s wife. Authorities are investigating links between the cases, suspecting organized gang activity and criminal conspiracy.
