South Korea’s advanced Haegung naval missile has been exported to Malaysia for the first time, marking a major milestone in global defense trade. The $94 million deal was signed by LIG Nex1 with the Malaysian Ministry of Defense during DSA 2026 in Kuala Lumpur. Designed for ship defense, Haegung is a ship-to-air missile capable of intercepting aircraft and incoming anti-ship threats. Developed with technology derived from Cheongung-II, it offers enhanced radar detection and dual-mode targeting for high accuracy. The missiles will be deployed on Malaysian naval patrol ships, strengthening maritime defense capabilities and expanding South Korea’s footprint in the global arms market.
