Nine U.S. fighter jets were scrambled after five Russian military aircraft entered the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), according to North American Aerospace Defense Command. The aircraft included two Tupolev Tu-95 bombers, two Sukhoi Su-35 jets, and one Beriev A-50 surveillance plane. NORAD responded with F-16s, F-35s, an E-3, and KC-135 tankers to intercept and escort the planes, which remained in international airspace.
