Tensions escalate between India and Pakistan as Pakistan’s military claims to have shot down 12 Indian drones in a single night, including Israeli-made Harop loitering munitions. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry called the drone incursion a “serious provocation,” noting that the drones were neutralized near Karachi and Lahore. The Harop, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries, functions as both a drone and missile, capable of autonomous strikes. According to Dr. Fahad Irfan Siddiqui, these military-grade drones are satellite-operated and difficult to jam. India remains a top buyer of Israeli arms, with purchases exceeding $2.9 billion, including advanced drones and missiles. Their deployment near the border signals a new era in regional warfare.
