Defending US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the semifinals without playing after Markéta Vondroušová, the 2023 Wimbledon champion, withdrew due to a knee injury. According to the USTA, this was the first women’s walkover at the US Open quarterfinals or later since 1988. Sabalenka now faces No. 4 Jessica Pegula, who defeated Barbora Krejčíková in straight sets to reach her second consecutive semifinal. Pegula has become the first American since Serena Williams to reach back-to-back US Open semifinals without dropping a set. Meanwhile, Iga Świątek, Amanda Anisimova, Karolína Muchová, and Naomi Osaka will battle in the remaining quarterfinals.
