As the Gaza ceasefire deal enters its second week, US envoy Steven Witkoff met with a top adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Having arrived in Israel from Saudi Arabia, Witkoff’s agenda includes meetings with Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Netanyahu and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer. The envoy is set to deliver a message from President Trump, stressing the importance of fully implementing the ceasefire agreement and resolving internal political and security disputes within Israel regarding the truce.
Witkoff also requested a meeting with four Israeli female soldiers released from Hamas captivity as part of the deal. The talks come as the agreement, mediated by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, remains critical in the region.
