The United Nations General Assembly is set to vote Thursday on a resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The move follows a recent U.S. veto of a similar Security Council resolution. Despite opposition from the U.S. and Israel—who called the vote a “political charade”—global support remains strong. The draft calls for an end to hostilities, release of hostages, and full Israeli withdrawal. The U.S. has warned allies of diplomatic fallout for supporting the resolution, but growing international concern over famine and humanitarian crises in Gaza is increasing pressure for peace. Over 54,000 Palestinians have been reported killed.
