Lebanon and Hezbollah have agreed to a U.S.-mediated ceasefire proposal with Israel, submitting written comments emphasizing adherence to UN Resolution 1701. The proposal, described as the most serious effort to end the conflict, was delivered to the U.S. ambassador in Lebanon, with envoy Amos Hochstein expected to continue talks in Beirut.

Hezbollah, supported by Iran, tasked ally Nabih Berri to negotiate the deal, but its success hinges on Israel’s response. The resolution calls for no armed Hezbollah presence near the border, a condition long violated. Lebanon remains firm despite intensified Israeli bombardments.
