Chinese Startup, Air White Whale, Unveils, World’s Largest, Cargo Drone, the W5000, a Chinese aviation startup, has unveiled its first unmanned transport aircraft, the W5000, which the company claims is the world’s largest cargo drone of its type.
The W5000 made its public debut in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, at a recent event where the startup’s chairman and CEO, Hu Zhendong, showcased the aircraft. Hu stated that large cargo drones like the W5000 will play a significant role in the future of airfreight transportation, citing their operational efficiency and competitive costs.
The W5000 is a twin-turboprop drone with a maximum takeoff weight of 10.8 metric tons, a 5-ton payload capacity, and an internal cargo space of 2,295 cubic feet (65 cubic meters), according to company information.
