Canada and Australia will collaborate on a new military radar system in the Arctic, investing over $6 billion in long-range, over-the-horizon technology to enhance air and maritime threat detection. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized the need for strong defense partnerships, particularly with NORAD, as global competition in the Arctic intensifies. Additionally, Canada will allocate $420 million to expand its year-round presence in the region. Amid shifting US priorities and growing Russian-Chinese cooperation, Canada aims to strengthen its sovereignty and security in the strategically vital Arctic.
