A legal team representing families of 30 Venezuelans deported by the U.S. and detained in El Salvador’s mega prison has appealed to the Salvadoran Supreme Court to assess the legality of their detention. The lawyers, hired by Venezuela’s government, argue the detention may be unlawful and seek immediate release. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele claims the detainees are linked to the Tren de Aragua gang, while U.S. authorities admit not all had criminal records. The Trump administration deported 137 under the Alien Enemies Act, raising legal concerns. Human rights groups warn of potential rights violations.
