Emeritus Bishop Christopher Saunders, who assumed his role in Broome back in 1996, was apprehended at his residence on Wednesday, as reported by CNN affiliate Seven News.

Although the police statement refrained from disclosing Saunders’ identity, it outlined charges against a 74-year-old individual. The charges include two counts of sexual penetration without consent, over a dozen charges of unlawful and indecent assault, and three counts of indecently dealing with a child aged between 16 and 18.
