Many people are feared dead or injured after Israeli forces struck a humanitarian zone meant to shelter displaced civilians in southern Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated on Monday evening that they targeted “significant Hamas terrorists” who were operating within a command-and-control center located inside the humanitarian area in Khan Younis, Gaza.

Hamas, however, denied having fighters in the area. Gazan authorities reported that dozens of Palestinian families were buried in the strike on a crowded displacement camp, and a search operation is ongoing to locate victims.
