Hezbollah Pagers Explode in Lebanon: 9 Dead, Thousands Wounded | CISNewsStudio1s

A coordinated explosion of pagers across Lebanon killed at least nine people, including an 8-year-old girl, and wounded over 2,800 others. The devices were primarily used by members of Hezbollah, the militant group.

Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel, which was identified as being behind the attack, according to CNN. The Lebanese government condemned the strike, labeling it as “criminal Israeli aggression.”

The attack was triggered when Hezbollah pagers, acquired in recent months, simultaneously exploded after receiving a message, a Lebanese security source revealed. Explosives had been placed near the pager batteries, along with a remote detonation switch, according to the New York Times.

The explosions occurred just hours after Israel’s security cabinet voted to broaden its war objectives against Hezbollah, following months of escalating cross-border attacks. Israel has not yet issued any statement regarding the pager explosions.
