The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, representing the families of Israeli hostages held in Gaza, has called on the public to mobilize following reports by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of discovering several bodies in the war-torn territory.

The forum’s call to action coincided with thousands of Israelis rallying on Saturday, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire-for-hostages deal. In a statement, the IDF confirmed finding “a number of bodies during combat in the Gaza Strip” but did not confirm if any were hostages, advising the public to “refrain from spreading rumors.”

Despite the lack of confirmation, many Israelis fear that more hostages have been found dead, intensifying demands for the government to secure a ceasefire-for-hostages agreement.

Israel launched its offensive against Hamas in Gaza following the militant group’s cross-border attacks on October 7, which killed over 1,200 Israelis and led to 250 hostages being taken, according to Israeli authorities. Since the war began, over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the health ministry in the enclave.
