Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made his first public appearance in Tehran since the 12-day Iran-Israel conflict, attending an Ashoura eve mourning ceremony. His absence during the fighting fueled speculation he was in a secure bunker amid escalating threats. US President Donald Trump claimed the US knew Khamenei’s location but had no plans to kill him “for now.” During the conflict, Khamenei stated Tehran had struck a US air base in Qatar as a “slap” to America. Iran reported over 900 deaths, thousands injured, and significant damage to nuclear sites, later denying UN inspectors access. The extent of damage and the future of nuclear talks remain uncertain.
