Pope Francis passed away at age 88 in the Casa Santa Marta. Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced his death at 9:45 AM, stating the Pope “returned to the house of the Father” at 7:35 AM. Known for his deep compassion and dedication to the poor, Pope Francis was praised for his faithful service. A certification of death and coffin placement took place Monday evening, and seals were placed on his residences. The Vatican may transfer his remains to St. Peter’s Basilica by Wednesday for public veneration. The first General Congregation of Cardinals is set for Tuesday to decide the date of the funeral.
