Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau became the first G7 leader to meet President-elect Donald J. Trump following his election, landing in Florida on Friday night amid growing concerns over Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods. Trudeau, joined by Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, aimed to ease trade tensions during a dinner at Mar-a-Lago with senior Trump allies likely to hold top trade and security positions.

While Trudeau stayed overnight in the area, he did not lodge at Trump’s private club in Palm Beach. The meeting highlighted early diplomatic engagement between Canada and the incoming U.S. administration.
