U.S. Deploys THAAD Missile Defense System to Israel | CISNewsStudio1s

On Oct 21, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the U.S. military had expedited the deployment of its advanced THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system to Israel. The anti-missile system is now “in place” as part of the U.S.’s layered air defense strategy. While Austin declined to confirm if the system was operational, he noted that it could be activated quickly if needed.

The deployment includes about 100 U.S. soldiers and is intended to help defend Israel amid tensions following Iran’s launch of over 180 missiles on Oct 1. President Joe Biden emphasized that the U.S. aims to assist Israel’s defense while urging caution to avoid escalating conflict in the Middle East.
