Russian leaders are expressing deep dissatisfaction with the U.S. decision to relocate combat vehicles and tanks from Germany to a NATO base in Podwidz, Poland.
Polish news outlet Radio ZET published images of a convoy of U.S. combat vehicles traveling from a military base in Germany to storage facilities in Podwidz, with the transfer expected to continue through September 2024.
The site in Podwidz, which began receiving vehicles like the M88 armored recovery vehicle as early as June, is being prepared to eventually host a full armored brigade. According to retired U.S. Army Colonel Ray Wojcik, this strategic location could enable the rapid deployment of troops within days, as opposed to the month it would typically take for such forces to arrive by sea. This forward deployment is seen as a powerful signal to Moscow.
