China Eastern Airlines has launched a record-setting ultra-long-haul route connecting Shanghai and Buenos Aires, completing the journey in an astonishing 29 hours. The new service, which includes a brief stop in Auckland, began operations on 4 December and now stands as the world’s longest commercial flight. Southbound travel takes just over 25 hours, while the return leg to China extends to nearly 29 hours due to wind conditions. Operated by a 316-seat Boeing 777-300ER, the route spans roughly 20,700 kilometres and lands at Ezeiza International Airport. Positioned as part of China Eastern’s expanding “Air Silk Road,” the corridor strengthens links between Asia, Oceania, and South America, serving a growing Chinese community in Argentina and offering economy fares from €1,320 to business class starting around €4,200.
