Patrick Mahomes powered through an ankle scare as the Kansas City Chiefs secured a 30-24 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, continuing their perfect season. Mahomes, who suffered the injury last week against the Las Vegas Raiders, limped again after delivering a touchdown pass to Samaje Perine that tied the game at 17-17 in the fourth quarter.
Despite needing assistance to the sideline, the 29-year-old quarterback returned to connect with DeAndre Hopkins for a five-yard touchdown, putting the Chiefs up 24-17. Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield later equalized, but Kansas City dominated in overtime, with Kareem Hunt’s two-yard touchdown sealing the win. Mahomes downplayed concerns, saying he would be ready to face Denver.
